This is especially true for farmers growing relatively low value staple crops on smallholdings. Many development efforts focus on increasing the production capacity of smallholder farmers in order to increase their incomes. Watch this space for any developments. ---- ATA and USAID AGP-AMDe Jointly Developed Policy Proposal to Strengthen Ministry of Trade’s involvement in Regulating Ethiopia’s Warehouse Receipt System March 2013 Introduction This proposal, developed by the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) and the Agricultural Growth Program-Agribusiness and Market Development (AGP-AMDe) Project, is intended to urge the Government of Ethiopia to reactivate the Ministry of Trade’s mandate to regulate Ethiopia’s warehouse receipt system. ECX Board of Directors appoints interim CEO

EXC Press Release March 21, 2014 (Addis Ababa, March 21, 2014)   – Board of Directors of the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) accepted the resignation of Ato Anteneh Assefa as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and appointed Ato Shimelis Habtewold as interim CEO as of March 21,2014. Ato Shimelis has served the Exchange for the last six years in different capacities and presently working as Chief Compliance Officer. Since November 1, 2012, Ato Anteneh Assefa has been serving the Exchange as CEO until he resigned from his post due to health reasons. ECX recognizes Ato Anteneh’s unreserved contributions for the achievement of the Exchange during his leadership. The Board has commenced a search for a permanent replacement. At this juncture, ECX would like to express its commitment to its members, clients and other stakeholders that it continues its effort in building up a modern, efficient, technology driven, orderly and unified marketing system.
