November 5 (WIC) – The Eastern African Fine Coffees Association (EAFCE)
announced that the 9th edition of the African Fine Coffee Conference and
Exhibition will be held in Addis Ababa from 16 - 18 February 2012.
The conference and exhibition will be held
at the United Nations Conference Centre under the theme: “Ethiopia: The
Legendary Land of Coffee. Where it all begun.”
More than 1,000 participants, including
coffee trader and coffee supplier companies from all over the world, are
expected to take part at the exhibition.
Trade Minister Abdurahman Sheik Ahmed said
at an incident organized to officially declare the launch of the conference and
exhibition here yesterday that the event would be a good opportunity for
delegates to taste the many varieties that Ethiopia and other fine coffee
producing countries have to offer.
General Manager of Ethiopian Chapter with
EAFCE, Abdullah Bagersh, on his part said the event would play a key role in
building Ethiopia’s positive image, creating market linkages and promoting
knowledge transfer.
He added the exhibition will serve as a
platform for showing best coffees, connecting buyers and sellers as well as
building trade relations.
Founded in July 2000, EAFCA is a regional
non-profit, non-political, member driven association representing coffee
sectors in 11 member countries namely Ethiopia, Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya,
Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
