August 19, 2008
New York — Two of the most respected names in the world of fine coffee have announced a partnership to bring a series of quality-oriented coffee courses and events to New York City.
BODUM® USA Inc, a leader in the specialty coffee product category and manufacturer of the original, world-famous Chambord French Press®, and Boot Coffee Consulting & Training, the California-based boutique coffee training company of coffee master Willem Boot, are pooling their resources to create an ongoing series of courses designed for both coffee professionals and the general public to learn all aspects of the coffee experience.
“Anyone who truly loves coffee and is serious about learning more about it is welcome to attend the courses,” explains Boot. “These events and courses will take you deep into the science of coffee and sensory evaluation as well as the business of coffee from the farms of Panama or Indonesia, to the best specialty shops in the United States.”
The first course – “The Art and Science of Fine Coffee” – will be offered September 5-7, 2008 at the beautiful BODUM headquarters in the Chelsea section of New York City. Taught by Willem Boot and Daniel Humphries, course topics include: the introduction of sensory evaluation; the science of tasting and an in-depth study of the regional differences of coffee. The instructors will use BODUM equipment to demonstrate how to make a coffee truly speak for itself.
Future courses and events will be held at the BODUM showroom throughout the fall. In addition to Friday to Sunday weekend courses, several one-time events are planned to feature the very best coffees from producing countries all over the world.
To learn more about course schedules and pricing, or to register for “The Art and Science of Fine Coffee”, coffee professionals and enthusiasts are welcome to e-mail courses@bootcoffee.com or call Daniel Humphries at 718-614-7969.
“Hosting specialty coffee courses and events at our new showroom is a natural extension of what BODUM is all about,” explains Thomas Perez, President of BODUM USA, Inc. “These courses are focused on learning about the true flavors of unique coffees. And that’s what our products have always been about: letting the coffee speak for itself. By experiencing the “BODUM Way”, event attendees will learn how to brew the world’s finest coffees by hand, using the BODUM press system, designed to deliver exceptional taste.”
“Quality is our guiding light in developing these courses,” adds Boot. “We’re excited to provide a stage for beautiful coffees from El Salvador, Brazil, and Ethiopia right here in New York City, the business capital of the world. I believe we’re in for a treat.”
